Highland Community Church
Where Love Reaches Out and
God Reaches Down
to Welcome and Receive You.

Our Belief...
is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that our salvation comes only through Him by faith. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, that Jesus Christ is the culmination of God's plan of salvation, and that through the Cross of Christ we have

  • forgiveness of sin

  • victory over Satan in our daily walk

  • the promise of eternal life with Christ.

Our Focus...
is on Jesus Christ and the life-changing difference He makes in the lives of those who place their complete faith and trust in Him. We are committed to a walk of faith which is carried out through prayer, ministry, evangelism and discipleship. [top]

Our Ministry...
includes Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday gatherings. On Sunday mornings at 9:30 we have classes for all ages. The message and triumph of Christ's resurrection is communicated through our various classes. Our Worship and Praise Service begins at 10:30 and ends by 11:40 AM. During that time we have a Children's Church program (for those 3 years old through Grade 5) and a nursery for the convenience of Mom and Dad (for ages 2 and younger). Our time of worship is intended to glorify God, exalt Jesus Christ, and to teach and promote the life of victory and assurance we have in Jesus Christ. Scriptural-based teaching is used to make the Bible a vital, relevant and practical part of our daily life. Contemporary Praise Songs and traditional hymns are sung. Communion is served at each service. [top]

Evangelism and discipleship are integral aspects of our on-going ministry. [top]

We have a Youth Outreach Program on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 PM.  Our Thursday evening activity is a Prayer and Bible Study for adults and is also from 7 to 8 PM

Our ministry attempts to increase your personal awareness and involvement in mission work by actively supporting varied missionary efforts throughout the world. Our fellowship also enthusiastically supports Portland Christian School in Louisville. [top]

Our Desire...
is to be available to you for personalized ministry whether you are visiting with us for the first time, one of many times, or should you become a member. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, we desire that you will allow us the opportunity to show you how you can make that decision. If you are a believer and are looking for a church home where you will be loved, challenged to personal and spiritual growth and to service, we encourage you to come grow with us at Highland. [top]

Our Prayer...
is that God will bless you and that your life will be all that He wants it to be. If that should mean joining our fellowship, we at Highland would be eager to meet you, and to know you and those who are close to you. The entire family at Highland would welcome you! [top]

The Church was founded in 1897 and the present building was constructed in 1899.
